MONROE - At its meeting Monday, the Monroe school board:
Received an update on the PEP grant, which was awarded to the district in 2013 and is now entering its third and final year of providing funds for programs, projects, training and equipment related to physical education. Physical education teacher John Ditter presented on the grant's progress, including the remodeling projects for the Monroe Middle School fitness center and the MHS weight room.
Hired instructional staff members Jay Moelling, MHS technology education teacher, and Jolene DeNure, MHS special education teacher.
Hired support staff member Kursten Vold, MMS accounting secretary.
Accepted donations: school supplies from Monroe Noon Optimists; school supplies from Anytime Fitness; and $850 from Salvation Army.
Heard information on the music trip to Cleveland and Chicago scheduled from June 8 to 10. Students in the MHS instrumental and vocal music departments will pay for the trip themselves, including fundraising. Stops on the tour include the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and a Broadway show.
Approved the requests of six students to enroll in the district and three students to leave the district.
Board member Jim Plourde was absent.
