In a Monroe school board meeting Monday, Sept. 9, the board:
Heard a presentation on the Smiles 4 Life program in the district this year. Smiles 4 Life, is a non-profit oral hygiene program from Waukesha, offered to students in the district 4K through high school. The program offers dental screenings, cleanings, fluoride applications, dental sealants and cavity prevention at school. The program accepts the Forward Health Badger Care card. The dental program is free to the district.
Approved a $18,560 Educator Effectiveness grant as recommended by Dan Keyser, the district's director of curriculum and instruction.
Approved a $9,030 grant for Terri Montgomery, district reading specialist and gifted and talented coordinator, from the Berbee Derby Benefiting Technology Education Foundation.
Approved the hiring of Abbie Stagliano, a certified occupational therapy assistant, at Parkside Elementary School.
Accepted an $850 donation from the Salvation Army.
