On Monday, July 13, the Monroe school board:
• Hired Louise Tindle as Monroe Middle School/Parkside Elementary School cafeteria worker; Jane Zimmerman as MMS cafeteria worker and Patrick Cleary as Virtual School teacher.
• Approved a 2.8 percent increase in wages for exempt staff for the 2009-10 school year. There are about eight exempt positions in the district, including positions such as district nurse and maintenance supervisor. The exempt positions are not part of the union for support staff, but generally are given the same salary increase the support staff receives. The increase totals about $33,500 more in wages for next year.
