Monroe School Board: Aug. 14, 2013

In a Monroe Board of Education meeting on Monday, Aug. 12, the school board:

- Approved the hiring of Jackie Guy as a Monroe High School math teacher. Guy is taking over a one-year duty in place of Chad Cassidy.

- Hired Jennifer Russell as a high school ag teacher and Alexis Johnston as a Parkside Elementary School ELL teacher.

- Approved the resignations of Julia Collins, a physical education teacher at Monroe Middle School and Kate Stuart, a certified occupational therapy assistant at Parkside.

- Hired Ruth Maurer as an aide at Northside Elementary School and Malika Jubeck as an aide at Northside.

- Learned the district will post a position for an exceptional behavior needs assistant. Joe Monroe, director of pupil services, said special education funds will pay for the position.
