On Monday, Aug. 10 the Monroe School Board:
Learned the district signed a sewer easement allowing the city of Monroe access to its property to work on the downtown Streetscape project. Superintendent Larry Brown said there was an abandoned sewer line running under the Monroe Public Library building, which also houses district offices. The sewer line was so old that the city had no documentation of when it was constructed, but it appeared to be made of brick. The city filled the sewer line with concrete to avoid any future problems.
Hired Denise Platenberg as Northside building secretary and Rita Krebs as Northside LMC aide. Shannon Thompson was hired as Parkside Title 1 Math instructor.
