MONROE - During a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Salary and Personnel Committee:

• Approved hiring of seasonal summer employees for the Recreation Department.

• Approved hiring of seasonal summer employees for parks maintenance.

• Discussed and recommended to council to hire Melli Law, S.C., Madison, as a labor negotiator for the city, to retain attorney Daniel D. Barker. Barker recently joined the firm as a partner in the areas of labor and employment law. Barker has been the city's attorney in recent contract negotiations.

• Discussed and recommend to council to hire BZA Consultants, LLC, for building inspection and zoning services, on a contracted basis.

• Reviewed the city administrator job description and recommended to council to approve the changes. The new job description is condensed in the technology duties and reduces the safety duties. The committee will look at the budget in about three to four months to determine how the city may proceed with the costs of hiring a new administrator.
