MONROE - During a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Public Safety Committee:
Discussed a telephoned request for a lower speed limit and yellow caution lights at 11th Street and Wisconsin 69, presented to the committee by Police Chief Fred Kelley. The caller left a message, Kelley said, but no name or phone number. Kelley informed the committee that all signs and traffic lights on Wisconsin 69 are put there by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation; the city has no control over those.
Recommended approval of special events for: Pregnancy Center of Green County Walk for Life, 8 a.m. to noon, May 9; American Legion Zilmer Riley Post No. 84 Memorial Day Parade and Service, 8 a.m. to noon, May 25; Monroe Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sale, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., May 9; Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 16.
