Monroe Police on scene of armed robbery; no injuries
Monroe PD vehicle search
The Monroe Police Department is looking for a vehicle involved in a robbery Friday afternoon, Jan. 26.

MONROE - At 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2024, Monroe Police were called to the scene of a reported armed robbery at Grocery Abbarotes La Orizabena, 1504 11th Street, in Monroe’s downtown.

The initial report is that three (3) masked Hispanic men entered the business, each displayed a handgun, and then robbed the business. No one was injured. The three then fled the store, running east on 11th Street and then south in a nearby alley. An undetermined amount of U.S. currency was taken.

Monroe Police Chief Frederick A. Kelley said authorities believe that the men then got into an all black, 4-door sedan with a damaged hood, which was likely occupied by a fourth person. This vehicle was seen leaving the area traveling west on 12th Street.

Monroe Police remain on the scene investigating the incident, and will update their Facebook page with any possible photos if any are available. That is undetermined at this time.
