MONROE — It was announced at the Monroe City Council meeting on January 15, that long time Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley will be retiring later this year, giving June 7, as his last day of work for the department. Kelley has been with the Monroe Police Department for 46 years and has been the Chief of Police for 31 of those years.
The City of Monroe will begin a search for a successor. Police and Fire Commissions select police chiefs in these events. No details regarding that process have been released yet.
