On March 20:

● At 4:47 p.m., officers were called to a two-vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of STH 69 and STH 11/81 at North 18th Avenue. The investigation indicated that a vehicle operated by Larry W. David, 77, of Brodhead, was turning from the STH 11/81 off ramp, on to northbound STH 69, and collided with a second vehicle, traveling north on STH 69, operated by Kenneth L. Johnson,77, of Gratiot. Both vehicles sustained disabling damages and were towed. David reported non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Green County EMS. David was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, and released pending a court appearance.

On March 25:

● At 3:03 p.m., officers were called to a disturbance in the 1600 block of 4th Avenue West. An investigation indicated that the incident was apparently a road rage incident where a handgun was displayed. The investigation further led to the arrest of Kevin D. Klemm, 47,  of Monroe, on a charge of disorderly conduct while armed. Klemm was booked and later released pending a court appearance.

On March 26:

● At 5:37 a.m., officers were called to a two-vehicle accident with no reported injuries in the 100 block of North 18th Avenue. An investigation indicated that a vehicle operated by Danny A. Hoffman, 70, of Forreston, IL, was traveling north on North 18th Avenue, merged into an adjacent lane colliding with a second vehicle which was also traveling north on North 18th Avenue, operated by Leticia Castellanos Luna, 35, of Monroe. Both vehicles sustained minor damages and were drivable. Hoffman was cited for an unsafe lane deviation, and released pending a court appearance. Castellanos Luna was cited for operating without a valid driver’s license and released pending a court appearance. 

● On March 26, 2024, at 3:04 PM, officers arrested Laverne J. Richards, 56, of Monroe, in the 400 block of West 21st Street, on a warrant issued by the Monroe Police Department on a prior drug case. Richards was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Richards was confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.

On March 31:

● At 11:21 p.m., officers were called to a report of a disturbance at a business in the 500 block of 6th Street. An investigation led to the arrest of Cheri A. Hungerford, 48, Beloit, on charges of battery, false imprisonment and disorderly conduct under Wisconsin’s Domestic Violence laws. Hungerford was confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.

On April 1:

● At 2:41 p.m., officers arrested Christopher A. Coleman, 51, of Haven, KS, in the 2800 block of 6th Street, after the Wisconsin Department of Corrections-Probation & Parole placed a probation hold on Coleman. Coleman was confined in the Green County Jail pending further proceedings. 

● At 3:04 p.m., officers arrested Joshua W. Golackson, 41, of Monroe, in the 1700 block of 8th Street, following an investigation into a child abuse complaint. Golackson was charged with causing physical abuse to a child and causing mental harm to a child. Golackson was confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.

On April 4:

● At 8:29 a.m., officers were called to a business in the 1300 block of 2nd Street for a report of a theft. An investigation led to the arrest of Paul A. Smith,18, Freeport, IL, on charges of theft, criminal damage to property and obstructing an officer. Smith was confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.

On April 5:

At 9:50 p.m., officers were called to a business in the 300 block of 6th Avenue West for a shoplifting complaint. The investigation led to the arrest of Charles E. Bushey, 59, Freeport, IL, on charges of felony retail theft and possession of tetrahydrocannabinols (THC)-2nd offense. Also arrested was Amber V. Watson, 39, Freeport, IL, on charges of felony retail theft, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both Bushey and Watson were confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.

On April 10:

● At 2:26 a.m., officers were called to a business in the 1900 block of 10th Avenue for a report of an assault. An investigation led to the arrest of Jayden M. Baumgartner, 21, of South Wayne, on charges of disorderly conduct and battery under Wisconsin’s Domestic Violence laws. Baumgartner was booked and released after cash bail was posted pending a court appearance.
