Monroe Park and Recreation still has openings for spring, summer programs

MONROE - Monroe Parks and Recreation has a few openings in some upcoming summer programs.

Boys T-ball is for boys entering 5K in September. It will from 5:15 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Recreation Park from June 14 through July 26. The cost is $20 for residents and $30 for non-residents. The registration deadline is May 19.

Boys coach-pitch minor league is for boys entering first and second grades in September. It will be held at Recreation Park on Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 14 through July 27. Boys entering first grade will play from 6 to 7 p.m. and those entering second grade will be from 7 to 8 p.m. The cost is $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents. The registration deadline is May 19.

Baseball with the Cheesemakers is for boys currently in third through eighth grades and will be held from 5:15 to 6 p.m. May 15 at the high school ball diamond. The cost is $10.

Lassie league softball is for girls entering 5K through second grades in September and will be held at the Twining Park East ballfield on Tuesdays from June 13 through July 25, with no program on July 4. Girls entering 5K will play from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.; entering first grade from 6:15 to 7 p.m.; and entering second grade from 7 to 8 p.m. The cost is $20 for residents and $30 for non-residents. The registration deadline is May 19.

Lifeguard positions are still available for summer swim instructor and lifeguard at the Monroe outdoor pool. A lifeguard training certificate is required and applicants must be 16 years old by June 1. Lifeguard training will be held at the YMCA June 12-16 for anyone needing certification. Apply online at www.cityofmonroe.org by going to "I want to" and choosing "Apply for job." Go to the bottom of the page and click on the position; click on "Apply." An account must be created to complete the application.
