MONROE — Monroe’s new City Clerk/Treasurer is no stranger to the job — until his appointment here, the new candidate, Nikolai Wahl, served in a similar capacity in Brodhead.
“We are excited to welcome him to our team here at the City of Monroe,” City Administrator Brittney Rindy said in an email.
Rindy previously held the job before her appointment to the top administrative post in the city. In fact, Rindy was one of four finalists for the top position and the new clerk will now report to her. The council earlier this past summer chose the finalists from a pool of 18 applicants that had applied through the recruiting firm Public Administration Associates, LLC.
Before Rindy took over, the roles of City Clerk and Treasurer were separate positions. But with her hiring, the City Clerk/Treasurer, roles were successfully combined.
She has said that having two people in the roles is what the city needs. And there’s plenty of work to be done on the cusp of an election year.
“He (Wahl) will oversee many of the primary clerk duties including the elections, coordinating of meeting agendas and minutes, and license renewals,” said Rindy. “He comes with Clerk experience, serving as the City of Brodhead Clerk for the last three-plus years.”
Wahl’s first day on the job in Monroe will be Oct. 5.
