MONROE - A Monroe man was charged Tuesday with sixth-offense driving while intoxicated with a juvenile passenger.
Aaron L. Busch, 34, was charged with a felony count of sixth-offense drunk driving with a passenger under the age of 16 after he was reportedly involved in a fight at Leisure Lanes bowling center in Monroe on May 26.
According to a police report, Busch was visibly intoxicated when police responded to the fight and claimed he last drank two hours before the incident. He then claimed to have driven to the bowling alley four hours earlier before providing contradictory claims that he last drove four months or four years earlier.
The person with whom Busch reportedly fought said he had confronted Busch because he was visibly intoxicated and was attempting to drive from the parking lot with a 9-year-old child in the vehicle. Neither Busch nor the other person was injured in the fight.
Busch reportedly failed all field sobriety tests and was arrested.
Busch's previous drunk-driving convictions extend from his first offense on March 18, 2005 to his most recent offense on May 21, 2014.
Busch will next appear in court for a preliminary hearing July 11. His maximum possible sentence is 10 years in prison.
