MONROE - A Monroe man was charged with possession with intent to distribute THC.

Ryan Timothy Lambeau Field, 19, faces a Class H felony charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Field appeared in court Monday for his initial appearance.

Field's charge stems from an incident Saturday night, when a police officer saw Field stumbling in the 1300 block of 15th Avenue in Monroe. According to the police report, Field was visibly intoxicated and repeatedly falling down.

When the officer attempted to get Field's attention, Field first ignored the officer and then attempted to flee. The officer soon found Field on 15th Avenue, lying on his back and pretending to play the smartphone game Pokemon Go.

The officer noticed a strong smell of marijuana emanating from Field and his backpack. Upon examination of the backpack, the officer found 208 grams of marijuana in plastic baggies and a significant amount of cash.

Field was charged with possession of marijuana before, most recently in August 2015. In that case, Field was found guilty and was sentenced to two years of probation.

At his initial appearance, a $2,900 signature bond was set with conditions that he not possess or consume any controlled substances or possess any drug paraphernalia. A $100 cash bond with identical conditions was also set. Neither bond has yet been signed.

If found guilty, Field faces a maximum possible sentence of three years in prison.

Field will next appear in court for a preliminary hearing Aug. 24.
