Monroe looks to fill school board vacancy
School Board

MONROE — The School District of Monroe recently announced that it has an opening on the board of education to fill until the April 2020 election.

The board vacancy was left by Amy Bazley. Her term was set to expire in April 2021.

District Administrative Assistant Cindy Rupnow confirmed the district is looking for someone to step forward to serve in the position until spring of next year. A statement on the district Facebook page asks anyone interested in serving to visit the district administrative center at the Monroe Public Library or contact Rupnow via phone in order to obtain an application. Individuals looking to serve on the board must be residents of the district. Rupnow said as of Tuesday afternoon no one had contacted the district looking to fill the vacancy.

Rupnow said Bazley stepped down for personal reasons. Bazley first was elected to the board in 2008. She had recently served as vice president from April 2018 to the most recent board meeting April 22, when new officers were elected by members.
