Monroe group purchases Ill. accounting firm

MONROE - Benning Group of Monroe recently purchased the accounting office of Robert L. Carlile of Freeport, Ill., and took over office operations today.

The Carlile office was founded in 1960 and specializes in income tax and auditing mutual insurance companies, non-profit organizations, government units and schools.

Benning Group was founded in 1987 in Monroe. The firm offers accounting and auditing services, income tax planning and preparation, bookkeeping and payroll service.

Don Benning is the principal owner of Benning Group. He is a graduate of Dakota (Ill.) High School and a 1974 graduate of Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. He graduated from UCLA in 1977 with a Master in Business Administration.

Jenny Blocker, the other owner of Benning Group, also is a graduate of Dakota (Ill.) High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Rockford Business College in 1999.

Benning Group has hired all the employees at Carlile and plans to maintain its present location at 50 W Douglas St. in Freeport. The company will continue to provide business consulting services.
