MONROE - During a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works:
Approved a permit application from J. Wise Smith for two driveway connections in conjunction with a proposed strip mall development on 7th Street West near Monroe Truck Equipment.
Approved for payment bills in the amounts of $3,897.68 from Green Valley Disposal for January recycling; $5,788.85 from Whitney Tree Service for tree removals; $868 from Fehr-Graham for design engineering on a TID 8 sewer improvement project.
Authorized Public Works Director Kelly Finkenbinder to seek bids for replacement of a water main around the downtown Square. Finkenbinder said specifications for the project were done and approved by DNR. The new water main will be hooked up before the old one is taken out in conjunction with the redesigned downtown Square streetscape.
Accepted quotes for and authorized purchase of 2009 construction materials. Winning bids are from Rock Road, Bjoin, Boone and Rufer.
Reviewed quotes for and authorized purchase of 3/4 ton, 8-cylinder pickup truck from Alphorn Ford, at a cost of $15,770 with trade-in of a 1993 pickup, for the city Parks Department. The department had budgeted $22,000 for the purchase.
