Monroe Common Council: June 25, 2016

On Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:

• Appointed Mary Mezera as a full member of the Ethics Board for a three-year term expiring April 2019. Gregory Fedders was appointed as the alternate member to replace her on the board for a term ending April 2017.

• Granted fireworks permits for the city's Fourth of July celebration on July 4 and the Green County Fair for July 20.

• Voted to allow special events: the Swiss Valley Harley-Davidson open house Saturday; Optimists' annual picnic Thursday at Twining Park; and the city's annual July 4 celebration at Twining Park.

• Unanimously approved a Class A fermented malt beverage and cider only license for Shopko, and Class B liquor and fermented malt beverage licenses to numerous local businesses.

• Voted to grant a Class B fermented malt beverage license to Monroe Youth Hockey in conjunction with the Swiss Valley open house. Also approved a license for Habitat for Humanity of Green County for an outdoor beer garden at Concerts on the Square; alderman Charles Koch voted against the resolution.
