Monroe City Council: Sept. 19, 2013

MONROE - At a meeting Monday, Sept. 16, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works:

• Approved bills from Fehr-Graham and Associates for $1,225 for inspection of a storage tank at 718 18th St.; MSA professional services for $5,870 for GIS project; Fischl Construction Corporation for $40,320 for rock excavation, water, sewer and masonry for the Badger Trailhead facility; Whitney Tree Service for $3,775 for six tree removals and 11 hours of trimming.

• Recommended approval of a change order to the Badger Trailhead project, resulting in a reduction of $4,210 in construction costs. The changes include different block size and color and drinking fountain style. Park Director Paul Klinzing also reported the rock excavation, budgeted for $3,000, was completed for $375. The project total cost, expected at $160,000, is being funded by Wisconsin DNR Recreational Trails Act Grant Program and The Friends of the Badger Trails.

• President Reid Stangel reported on the Green County Solid Waste Management Board meeting that he attended Sept. 12.



MONROE - At a meeting Tuesday, Sept. 17, the City of Monroe Common Council:

• Set a public hearing for Oct. 15 to add the definition of Commercial Animal Establishment to the list of conditional uses in the M-1 light industrial district zoning ordinance. The Plan Commission recommends the addition.

• Voted unanimously to pay bills totaling $1,302,600.

• Approved Green Haven Family Advocates Scavenger Hunt fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 19 throughout the City of Monroe, using the Monroe Community Center as a base.

• Granted miscellaneous licenses.

• Approved unanimously a change order for the construction of the Badger State Trailhead building, which decreases the contracted cost by $4,200.

Senior Center Director Tammy Derrickson reported on the success of the center's brat bash event Sept. 5.

City Administrator Phil Rath noted the council proceedings were now being taped.
