MONROE - On Tuesday, the Monroe Common Council:
Approved a certified survey map for land division within 1.5 miles of city limits for Wanda Dieckman. The survey depicts an easement for access and a potential extension of the 8 1/2 Street right-of-way.
Held a public hearing on an ordinance to rezone property on the vacant plot near Badger State Ethanol from M-3 Industrial Park to M-1 Light Industrial.
Voted for a resolution approving an agreement with Associated Appraisal Consultants, Inc. for assessment services. The 2017 contract has a proposed basic fee of $53,200 with gradual increases for future years and a monthly fee of $62.69.
Approved a quit claim deed between the city and Birge F. Braun and Sandra L. Braun. The request came from Birge Braun for approval to vacate an easement from 1958 for a sanitary sewer.
Allowed for a no-parking zone request on the west side of the 1700 block of 15th Avenue. A school bus driver contacted Police Chief Fred Kelley asking for a no-parking zone next to Sinner's Tavern because when cars are parked on both sides of the street, it only leaves open one lane for traffic. The railroad crossing stop sign creates a line of traffic. The no-parking zone will be enforced from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on school days.
Granted a Class B fermented malt beverage license to the Monroe Arts Center under the state quota exception for performing arts centers. MAC will be able to serve wine, but only during ticketed performances.
Approved the purchase and development agreement with Peter and Lauree J. Raskovic for 2.95 acres in the north industrial park for the sum of $20,650 with $2.95 due in cash at closing.
Held a public hearing and approved the weights and measures assessment schedule for businesses within the city.
Authorized purchasing a 2016 tractor with cab, snow broom and out-front mower with funds designated for Department of Public Works equipment.
Agreed to hire Professional Roofing & Repair LLC of Monroe for $24,470 with the possibility of an additional $5,000 if the flashing cannot be reused to replace the roof of the Wastewater Treatment Plant sand filter building.
