Monroe City Council Notes: June 22, 2019

MONROE — On June 17, Monroe Common Council: 

●   Granted a temporary Class “B” fermented malt beverage license to American Legion Zilmer-Riley Post 84 in conjunction with the 2019 Green County Fair.

●   Awarded curb and gutter and sidewalk construction projects to sole bidder Jeff Voegeli Landscaping for roughly $350,000 to be paid from the Street Construction Capital Fund. 

The projects include the installation of curb and gutter on the 2019 street reconstruction projects in conjunction with the Utilities Department, on 18th Avenue from 6th Street to 9th Street and 25th Avenue from 6th Street to 13th Street.

●   Approved a special event application from Monroe Bible Church for an outdoor prayer service on Aug. 4 at Twining Park.

●   Set a public hearing for reimbursement costs for Cross Connection Inspections for July 1.

●   Awarded the incinerator demolition project to Kleckner Excavating Inc. of Stockton for a bid of $48,500 to be paid out of the Capital Project account.

●   Granted citywide annual liquor and fermented malt beverage licenses.

●   Approved a special event application from the Monroe Parks and Recreation Department for a Fourth of July celebration at Twining Park.

●   Awarded sole bidder to Rock Road Companies Inc. for paving and mill overlay projects, including: paving of 25th Avenue from 2nd Street to 26th Avenue, 18th Avenue from 6th Street to 9th Street, 25th Avenue from 6th Street to 13th Street, 16th Street from Wisconsin 69 to 10th Avenue, 9th Avenue from 14th Street to the south end of the 1700 block. The sold bid of more than $427,000 was recommended by the Board of Public Works. 

●   Approved a special event application from the Area Rebels Soccer for a fundraising soccer match and event on July 4 at Honey Creek Park. 

●   Heard a request from City Administrator Phil Rath to fill out an online poll asking for availability of all council members to establish the best times for committees to meet.

●   Awarded curb and gutter and sidewalk removal and replacement projects to R&T Excavating Inc. for more than $218,000. R&T was also the sole bidder. The project includes the repair of small section of curb and gutter along the street paving projects completed by city crews and will be paid for through the street construction budget.
