Monroe City Council Notes: April 21, 2011

MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:

- Recognized outgoing aldermen Paul Hannes, Dan Henke, Kent Kallembach, and Charles Schuringa.

- Reconvened following the oaths of office by newly elected officials: Brooke Bauman, Jan Lefevre, Sara Conway, Reid Stangel, Chris Beer and Tyler Schultz.

- Reorganized with election of Charles Koch as council president and with elections and confirmation of appointments to various committees, boards and commissions.

- Heard from State Assembly Representative Janis Ringhand, via a letter to the city, dated April 14.

- Heard from Donna Glenn, Monroe, concerning the problems with rain and water run-off in her neighborhood. She asked the council to approve the installation of curbs and gutters proposed in the Lakeside Heights area.

- Approved $515,000 to pay bills.

- Granted miscellaneous licenses.

- Approved a one-year agreement with Green County Humane Society, on a 8-2 vote. Charles Koch and Sara Conway voted against.

- Unanimously approved a change order to the contract with Dane County Contracting, LLC for 8th/9th street sanitary sewer and water improvements. The changes result in a $950 decrease in the contract price.

- Unanimously approved an addendum to the agreement with Town & Country Engineering for the Lakeside Heights lift station improvement project to include additional engineering design work and associated cost for curb and gutter. The additional engineering cost is $4,000.

- Unanimously approved a revised land acquisition offer for $400. The acquisition involves a pine tree that would be damaged in conjunction with the 8th/9th street reconstruction project.

- Unanimously approved an agreement between the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the City of Monroe for replacement of bridge on the Badger State Trail.
