MONROE — On Monday, the Monroe Common Council:
● Heard a proclamation from Mayor Louis Armstrong designating American Legion Centennial Day.
● Met with Eric Davidson of Eau Claire-based Bauman Associates, an accounting and comptroller consulting firm contracted by the city in January after a reduction in the city budget resulted in dismissal of former comptroller Bridget Schuchart. Davidson said talks between the firm and City Administrator Phil Rath began in the fall.
● Heard a request from Alderman Ron Marsh to hold a special meeting to discuss and gather information about the recently ended Revolving Loan Fund program through the state and how to proceed with returning roughly $1.29 million by the end of January 2021.
● Approved a proposed city investment policy.
● Heard an announcement from City Clerk Arianna Voegeli about the upcoming city blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 11 at City Hall.
● Created a no parking zone on north and south sides of 2800 block of 8th Street.
● Granted a temporary “Class B” wine and fermented malt beverage license to the Monroe Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Stateline Home and Business Expo held Friday and Saturday at SLICE.
● Heard remarks from Alderwoman Donna Douglas, who noted she was glad to see roughly two dozen Boy Scouts in attendance, adding that “the future of the city is in good hands.”
