MONROE - At a meeting June 2, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works:

• Approved a bill from Gentz Electric for $9,000 for lighting improvements in the parking ramp.

• Discussed the background of the City of Monroe's participation with Green County Transfer Station. A meeting with representatives of the county's Solid Waste Management Committee and transfer station manager to discuss new contracts and other financial implications as a partner is scheduled June 16. City staff was directed to gather necessary information for that meeting.



MONROE - At a meeting June 2, the City of Monroe Public Safety Committee:

• Approved a long-term amplified sound permit application from Main Street Monroe.

• Approved special events for Green County Leaders/Kiwanis Golf Tournament, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7, in Twining Park; Colony Brands, Inc., Monroe Badger Days, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. June 16, in the 500-600 blocks of 14th Avenue; and the UW Alumni Club of Green County Red Run charity run, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 16, over a route pre-approved by the Police Department, beginning and ending in Twining Park.

• Approved the removal of a disability parking stall, as requested by the public, in 1700 Block of 15th Street. The lone stall will be re-incorporated into the surrounding no-parking area.

• Approved installing traffic control and speed limit signs in the 1800 block of 11th Avenue and the 1100 block of 18th Street, as requested by Engineering Supervisor Gerber.



MONROE - At a meeting June 2, the City of Monroe Salary and Personnel Committee:

• Recommended a temporary hourly wage increase of $2 for the administrative secretary in the absence of the Recreation Supervisor, retroactive to May 27.

• Recommended filling the Recreation Supervisor position with Park Commission's recommendation.

• Discussed revisions to the Holidays section of the Employee Policy Manual.



MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Community Improvement Committee:

• Recommended to the Plan Commission moving ahead with sales of land in the Honey Creek Business and Industry Park. Charlie's Bark Park is purchasing about 1.6 acres and Wisconsin Pallet and Storage, about 15 acres.



MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the Public Property Committee:

• Approved the staff to precede with adverse possession efforts to obtain clear title to land south of the Middle School, known as Market Square, for possible sale.
