MONROE - At a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Public Safety Committee:
- Discussed a request for an ATV road route extension of Cheese Country Trail on city streets to fairgrounds. The Monroe Police Department and representatives for the Green County fairgrounds board were asked to establish proposed routes through the city, which will be reviewed at the June 21 meeting. Committee members expect to schedule a public hearing on the proposed routes.
- Recommended to the Finance and Taxation Committee a proposed city emergency services and public works communications project that will put city-wide departmental radio communication into compliance with federal and state regulations. State public safety regulations go into effect November 2011; federal regulations go into effect January 2013. The project as presented will cost an estimated $750,000. Phil Rath, city administrator, recommended the project be paid for with surplus funds.
- Approved relocating the city's Spillman Public Safety Data Server to the police department by the end of 2011. The system for storing and retrieving records and dispatching is currently at the county's Pleasant View complex, used by the county and other area law enforcement departments.
