MONROE - At a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works:- Approved a permit application and agreement for the installation of a sign that overhangs a sidewalk at 1510 11th Street.- Approved for payment bills from Veolia for $330 for May recycling and Whitney Tree Service for $4,678 for tree removal and trimming.- Approved a memorandum of understanding with Johnson Controls, pending review by the city attorney, to conduct a study of city facilities to determine savings that might be gained with long-term and quick energy saving changes.Member Reid Stangel was absent.MONROE - At a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Public Safety Committee:- Discussed the need for temporary fireworks stands to submit more plans and information to satisfy state fire codes as part of the city building permit and inspection process. Forms and process are to be presented by Fire Chief Daryl Rausch at next meeting.- Discussed changing public safety meetings to Tuesdays, as needed. Committee meeting meetings are set at the will of the chairman.
