MONROE - At a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:
- Set a public hearing for Aug. 6 for changes to the Monroe City Code regarding graffiti and damage to property.
- Held a public hearing and unanimously approved a second, restated development agreement, general development plan and specific implementation plan (Phase 1 and Phase II) for Northpass Planned Unit Development in the 200 block of 18th Avenue.
- Approved a revised workplace violence policy.
- Voted 6-3 to send a proposed five-year capital plan back to the Finance and Taxation Committee for more consideration during the operations budget process. Louis Armstrong, Charles Schuringa and Reid Stangel voted against the motion.
- Authorized, on an 8-1 vote, hiring Martin Shanks as the Assistant City Administrator/Safety Director effective Aug. 6 at an annual salary of $36,500. Shanks is immediately credited with one extra year of service toward the standard vacation schedule. Tyler Schultz voted against the motion.
- Approve unanimously $282,166 to pay bills.
- Approved Green County Fair Association Green County Fair; an amendment to Main Street Monroe Cars on the Square; Main Street Monroe Maxwell Street Days; ACT 10 Wisconsin Aids Ride; Green County Family YMCA Youth Triathlon; and the Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance 2012 Green County Alzheimer's Walk.
- Granted a temporary Class B beer and wine license to Green County Cheese Days in conjunction with an outdoor beer garden.
- Granted, on an 8-1 vote, a temporary Class B beer license in conjunction with an outdoor beer garden to Knights of Columbus for the Green County Fair. Sara Conway voted against the motion.
- Granted a temporary Class B beer and wine license to the American Legion for the Green County Fair.
- Approved temporarily amending the licensed premises description to add an outdoor beer garden Sept. 14-16 for the Class B liquor and beer license issued to Green County House, Inc.
