MONROE - In a meeting on Wednesday, the City of Monroe Plan Commission:

n Recommended to the council to approve a certified survey maps for the City of Monroe showing land along 21st Street by Orchid Monroe, for a detention pond on 4.5 acres.

n Approve a conditional use permit for Judith Coplien to allow installation of a digital billboard for off-premise advertising at 911 8th Street. The sign will include community service advertising; will change messages at 10-second intervals; and will not include flashing or scrolling text, moving images or video. The sign, 10 feet by 14 feet, will stand about 6 to 7 feet above ground and face westbound traffic.

n Recommended to the council to rezone property at 1620 and 1622 15th Ave. from R-2 (medium density residential district) to B-2 (general business district).

n Postponed discussion on resolving an island zoning potential for property located near 1620 and 1622 15th Avenue. The commission requested more information.

n Formalized the design, site plan and building plans for additional buildings, as-built, for Schultz Interstate Ag in Monroe North Business and Industry Park.

n Received a letter from Jim Becker, Greenbush Road, notifying the city of his intent to open an auto dealership on W5241 County KK. The commission determined the business would fall outside city boundaries and required no city action.
