MONROE - The Monroe City Council met Wednesday night with a quorum of seven members in attendance. Aldermen Mark Coplien, Keith Ingwell and Charles Schuringa were absent.

The Council:

• Approved payment of claims in the amount of $4,559,634.68.

• Hired Soils & Engineering Services, Inc., Madison, to perform underground soil explorations for the 16th Avenue sanitary sewer and water utilities upgrade project. The project will include drilling four borings, analysis of sub-surface materials and field study of report, for a cost not to exceed $2,670.

Struck from the agenda resolution to hire an outside firm to assist in acquiring the right-of-way for the Eighth and Ninth streets project.
