MONROE - During a meeting April 20, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works:
Approved for payment bills in the amounts of $4,958.50 for Walmart utility inspection and $1,051.84 for asbestos inspection for the city from Fehr-Graham and Associates. The Walmart inspection will be billed to Walmart.
Authorized the Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent Jerry Ellefson to purchase an additional industrial sampler. Ellefson said due to the increase in the North Industrial Park, more monitoring of discharges is needed. The city has six samplers to monitor 18 locations.
Recommended to council to approve a water management assistance program agreement with Carrico Aquatic Resources, Inc. The company is increasing its price from $9,700 to $10,200, the first increase in three years.
Recommended to council to extend a contract with Irv's Masonry, which is filling coal bins on the Square. Public Works Director recommended the extension to cover the unexpected costs when the downtown sidewalks come up and because of expanded work to side streets from the Square streetscape project.
Committee Vice-President Mark Coplien was absent.
