MONROE - On Wednesday, Aug. 28, the Monroe Airport Board of Management:
Approved the purchase of a Bat Wing mower. The old mower was 11 years old and had broken down with repairs beyond being cost effective. Airport Supervisor Rob Driver purchased a new $15,258 mower for $8,850, after discounts and trade-ins, from Eastside Equipment.
Approved, on condition of no objects from the Bureau of Aeronautics, a request to land an overweight passenger jet about five times a year at the airport.
Approved a Category 3 Aircraft Charter and Air Taxi license for Ted Davis of Doc's Flying Circus for passenger rides in a 1929 biplane for the week and weekend of Cheese Days.
Discussed the airport supervisor's contract. A bid package will be put together and proposals sought.
Discussed the need for a 2009 Airport budget to be ready for submission to the city by mid-September.
