Josh Mittness Candidate, WI Assembly District 50

MONROE — Josh Mittness has officially declared his candidacy to represent Wisconsin’s 50th Assembly District. A lifelong Wisconsinite, Josh was raised in Janesville by his grandfather, former State Representative Lew Mittness.

Lew and his wife Ruth instilled in Josh the values of “civic duty, integrity, and compassion — lessons that have shaped the man” he is today, Josh Mittness said. Before Lew died, Josh made him a promise; a promise to continue the tradition of standing up for everyday Wisconsinites and fighting for a better future for us all. Josh intends to do just that.

Josh Mittness isn’t a career politician. He’s a “regular working-class guy who knows the challenges that families in the 50th District face,” because he lives them every day, he said.

“From the rising costs of living and healthcare, to the financial struggles of our local schools and the pressures placed on working parents, I understand these hardships firsthand,” Josh said. “Because I was raised by my grandparents, I am familiar with the struggles many older Wisconsinites face in retirement, from living on a fixed income to increased costs for medication, housing, and everyday essentials. I am committed to delivering real solutions that make a real difference for the citizens of our state.”

Josh Mittness is running on a platform focused on dignity, opportunity, and equality for every Wisconsinite, regardless of race, gender identity, religion, or political affiliation.

“I believe that all of us are entitled to a vision for the future that lies beyond the next paycheck,” he said.

Mittness said his priorities include:

● Investing in strong public schools and ensuring every child has access to a quality education.

● Supporting affordable housing initiatives

● Protecting bodily autonomy for all

● Ending hunger and ensuring food security across the state

● Expanding access to affordable childcare and healthcare

● Defending the right to unionize and protecting workers rights

● Ensuring access to clean air and water

● Standing with Wisconsin’s farmers, who are the backbone of the state

“I’m running to make a genuine, positive difference for the everyday people who get up, work hard, and make this state what it is,” Mittness said. “The 50th District deserves a representative who listens, who cares, and who will roll up their sleeves and get to work. I intend to be that person.”

Mittness resides in rural Monroe with his fiancé, their children, and a lively household of pets. Outside of work and family, he enjoys playing guitar and perfecting his ever-expanding catalog of legendary dad jokes.
