Minhas, Monroe Lion's Club to host first-ever Oktoberfest

MONROE - Minhas Craft Brewery, along with the Monroe Lion's Club, will host the first ever Minhas Oktoberfest on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Minhas parking lot, 1208 14th Ave.

The days activities start with guided tours of the Minhas Craft Brewery, which run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost for the tour is $10, which includes the tour and a "Thank You" pack consisting of a Blumer Soda, Lazy Mutt, 1845 Pils, Billy Bock, Swiss Amber and a sampler glass.

Attendees can also tour Herb and Helen Haydock's World of Beer Memorabilia museum, featuring hundreds of brewery advertising artifacts, lithographs and prints, models, tap handles, growlers and more.

The day will culminate with live music at 1 p.m., featuring three blues acts.

Alex Wilson, who placed sixth at the 2011 International Blues Challenge, will be on first, followed by the rock, country and blues of October Soul and, finally, the Chicago Blues and New Orleans Funk of The Jimmy's.

The shows are free and open to the public.

The Monroe Lion's Club will be serving pork sandwiches, hot dogs, walking tacos, cheese curds, french fries, lemonade and water, and Minhas' Chocolate Bunny Stout, Rhinelander, Boxer Light and Oktoberfest will be served on tap as well.
