MONROE - The inaugural Minhas Monroe Film Festival will be held Sept. 15 during Cheese Days. Produced and presented by the Minhas family as a way of supporting arts in the southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois region, the family will manage and take full financial responsibility for the event.

Sheri Novak of Monroe will be the coordinator of the festival. MMFF will present a broad range of locally made and independent American and world cinema that can be in short format, experimental, documentary or full feature format. The subjects may include health, education, people, comedy, entertainment and everything in between. The festival will consider submission of commercials and advertisements in the festival for screening if they have substantial artistic value. The festival will not consider rough cuts or video games.

To make submissions of films and documentaries for review, upload them to www.Vimeo.com, completing the online entry form at www.Minhas.co. Submissions are being accepted and will be reviewed promptly by the Festival Review Committee. The deadline for submission is Aug. 15.

Media, titanium, gold and silver sponsors are being sought for the event, as well as volunteers to meet once a month to review the film submissions.
