MONROE - Monroe high school prom goers may want to get ready to purchase a ticket for the post prom at the Kalahari Resort in Lake Delton this year.

The Monroe School Board approved taking students on a bus to a post-prom party at the Kalahari Resort Waterpark in conjunction with New Glarus and Monticello high schools. Monroe High School Principal Rick Waski said the united post prom party is expected to cost about $10,000 for the three schools. Waski said Monroe has had post prom at SLICE the last two years and it's put on by parent volunteers that have raised $3,000 to $5,000.

"I think this will be a lot of fun for the kids," Waski said of the Kalahari trip, adding that some fundraising will still need to be done by students and parents.

Waski said the tickets for post prom would probably be either $25 or cheaper, depending on fundraising. Students will be able to attend post prom even if they don't attend the dance. The buses will leave at 11 p.m. Saturday, May 4 and return at about 7:30 a.m. Parent and school chaperones will be provided.
