DARLINGTON — Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County (MHLC) announces the expansion of its orthopedic surgical services after reaching an agreement with Dr. Eamon Bernadoni, son of Dr. Robert Bernadoni, a long-time family medicine physician providing care to residents of Lafayette County. Kathy Kuepers, CEO of MHLC, shared that Dr. Eamon Bernadoni has committed to returning to Darlington after completing post graduate orthopedic surgery training at the University of Wisconsin. “There’s nothing quite as special for a rural hospital like ours than to welcome home one of our community’s very own,” Kuepers said.
Dr. Bernadoni will join Dr. Dan Stormont, currently providing orthopedic surgical services in the MHLC Specialty Clinic.
“Together with the experience of Vic Toney, our Orthopedic Physician Assistant, we continue our plan to have Orthopedic care at our hospital that is first class in all respects,” Dr. Stormont said. “Dr. Bernadoni, like his father before him, is committed to Lafayette County, both as his home and as his workplace. He is coming to MHLC for all the right reasons.”
With the addition of Dr. Bernadoni, MHLC will not only increase access to orthopedic care, but his close bonds with the University of Wisconsin experts from across the orthopedic spectrum will help to facilitate an unprecedented level of consultative expertise, as well as a strong referral network for complex orthopedic cases.
“Throughout my training in engineering and medicine, I did not think I would be fortunate enough to have my career path lead me home. I am excited about the opportunity to give back to the community that has supported me and helped shape me into the person I am today.” Dr. Bernadoni said. He also added that he is looking forward to bringing his family back to Southwest Wisconsin to introduce them to the joys of the rural community that he will soon care for as an orthopedic surgeon.
“We look forward to giving Dr. Bernadoni, his wife, Christa and daughter, Audia, a warm welcome when they join us in 2023,” Kuepers said.
