CLARNO - The Staver St. Peter's United Methodist Church will host an ice cream social from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 23 at the church, W5899 Highway P.
The menu includes barbecue sandwiches and hot dogs, potato salad, chips, baked beans, applesauce, fruit pie, ice cream with assorted toppings, coffee, milk, and lemonade. The price is $7.50 for adults and $5 for children age 9 and under.
The church was started 144 years ago and was originally known for its Fourth of July celebrations, which were held across the road from the church. In later years, when the Fourth of July celebrations discontinued, the church held ice cream socials as fundraisers. After years of absence, the church started the ice cream socials last year. The funds raised during the event are used for the continued work on the church.
