Marsh: Not all cost information on stairs is in yet

MONROE - Mayor Ron Marsh said Friday morning that the city doesn't have "all they need" yet to figure the cost of removing and replacing new concrete steps on the north side of the downtown Square.

Marsh told the Times on Friday morning he had "no information at this time."

"I have to wait," Marsh said. "They still don't have all they need to make that determination."

The new steps were removed Aug. 4 and redesigned, following complaints Aug. 3 that they were unsafe.

On Thursday, Public Works Director Kelly Finkenbinder said he had tenative figures of the cost, but had been "instructed not to speak" to the Times by Marsh. Marsh was out of town Thursday, but before leaving gave department heads instructions that all information had to be released through his office.
