VILLAGE OF BELMONT - A Platteville man was trying to warm up his car when the engine started on fire Tuesday in the Village of Belmont.

According to a Lafayette County Sheriff's Department news release, Hunter L. Johnston, 20, had parked his car in the Lactalis Waste Water Treatment parking lot on Park Street and was attempting to warm it up in the early morning hours. Despite the subzero temperatures, Johnston's car engine started on fire. The car became fully engulfed, but no one was injured.

A deputy and the Belmont Fire Department responded to the fire and put out the blaze, but the car was a total loss.
