MONROE — A man on probation was arrested for a drunken driving offense early Saturday, Aug. 31, after crashing his vehicle in rural Juda, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

Before he was jailed, Nathan C. Siegel, 27, Belleville, was transported by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER for treatment of non-life threatening injuries he sustained in the crash.

Deputies and Juda firefighters responded at about 6:30 a.m. to a report of a disabled vehicle along the shoulder of Wisconsin 11 in the Town of Spring Grove.

Siegel was discovered “attempting to hide himself” inside the vehicle, which had “very severe damage,” Sgt. Allen Peters reported.

An investigation determined Siegel lost control of the vehicle in the N2800 block of County OK, Town of Decatur, causing it to go into the west ditch and roll “multiple times” before colliding with a traffic sign and fence. It then plowed into a cornfield, causing crop damage.

Siegel was able to drive the vehicle back onto the road. He continued south on County OK before turning westbound onto Wis. 11.

“The vehicle finally succumbed to its damages” in the W2200 block of Wis. 11, Sgt. Peters reported. It was later towed away.

Siegel told deputies he was wearing his seatbelt and not ejected in the rollover crash.

He was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while under the influence of alcohol and on charges of felony bail jumping, felony possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing an officer.

In addition, he was cited for driving without a valid license, failure to maintain control of a vehicle, failure to notify law enforcement of an accident, hit-and-run to property adjacent to the highway and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections also placed a hold on Siegel for violating his rules of probation. He is on probation related to a pot dealing operation he was involved with while living in Monroe earlier this year, according to court records.
