MONROE — A man was pronounced dead at the Monroe Clinic ER after a tree fell on him in an accident south of Monroe Saturday morning, April 27, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

The 73-year-old was involved in tree removal on a property in the 5400 block of Melvin Road when he was seriously injured by a tree falling, said Chief Deputy Tom Moczynski.

Deputies, Green County EMS and the Monroe Fire Department were dispatched to the scene at 8:22 a.m. and attempted first aid on the man before he was taken by ambulance to the ER.
