Man arrested for driving drunk, assaulting officer

NEW GLARUS - A Frankfort, Illinois man assaulted a deputy and a police officer after he was pulled over for driving about 30 miles per hour on Wisconsin 69 on Friday.

According to a Green County Sheriff's Department news release, Adam B. Been, 29, was arrested at 1:22 p.m. for driving while under the influence, obstructing an officer, battery to an officer and resisting arrest. Deputies received multiple complaints of an erratic driver northbound on Wis. 69 near Gutzmer Road, and officers attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop until entering a bank parking lot in New Glarus.

Been refused to exit the vehicle, so Belleville police were requested to assist. Forced entry was made to the vehicle. Been resisted arrest and assaulted one of the deputies, he also attempted to assault a Belleville officer.

Been was jailed pending court. The deputy sought medical treatment and was released.
