FREEPORT — An Orangeville man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol Wednesday after police say he drove through the back wall of his own garage and then plowed into his neighbor’s house in reverse at a high rate of speed.

The accident happened around 3 p.m. in the 200 block of Valley View Drive in Orangeville and was witnessed and reported by the neighbor, said Lt. Brad Curtis, Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses told police they saw Andrew J. Dominick, 54, drive through the back wall of his own garage and into a nearby cornfield, then put his Chevy Trailblazer in reverse and continue at a high rate of speed until he hit the rear of his neighbor’s house.

“He did a good job of it because they could see into the basement,” Curtis said. “He broke the foundation of the house.”

No one was injured. The Orangeville Fire Department and Leamons Ambulance Service assisted deputies at the scene.

Dominick was jailed on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. Court records for Stephenson County show he has at least one prior DUI conviction, from 2005. He pleaded guilty to that misdemeanor and successfully completed two years of court supervision, with conditions that he pay $1,630 and seek alcohol treatment.
