MONROE — The Infinity Yoga Studio (1218 17th Ave) is partnering with Main Street Monroe to host a yoga class on the north side of the courthouse lawn on Saturday, July 31. The class will be held from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. and will coincide with Main Street’s weekly farmers market.

Main Street approached Cathy Hauck, owner, about teaching the class earlier this summer. Both Cathy and Main Street’s director, Jordan Nordby, thought the timing would be right with summer returning to its normal fast paced busy weekends. “We hope this will be a really nice way to spend the morning, either staying in town or coming into town. Everything has been at warp speed (especially) because of last year. This will be a great time to ease into a Saturday and focus on yourself,” Nordby said.

Hauck emphasized that all levels are welcome. In fact, the class will be taught based on who is in attendance. For those who have them, a yoga mat is suggested. Otherwise, a towel will be fine. Hauck also anticipates ending the class with a bit of meditation. Because it is open to all levels, it makes it a good time to check out yoga if you are at all curious or want to get back into it, Nordby stated.

It is also scheduled so that attendees have time to either grab a coffee or breakfast before or after and still shop the farmers market. The markets on Saturdays have averaged over 20 vendors.

Produce anticipated on July 31 includes blueberries, greens, cucumbers, eggplant, herbs, peppers, potatoes, canned items, locally made soaps, and eggs.

Hauck opened The Infinity Studio in 2008. It is across the street from Turner Hall. Hauck graduated from the 500-hour Yoga Therapy Teacher Training Program through Alignment Yoga with Scott Anderson in 2013, and continues to take training classes and workshops to keep my teaching fresh. Since the pandemic, she has been offering classes online ranging from yoga, Reiki, and meditation.

Main Street is asking that anyone interested in Yoga on the Lawn to reserve their spot for $5. This can be done by going to their Facebook page: facebook.com/MainStreetMonroeinc/ and finding the specific event or by calling 608.328.4023.
