MONROE - Where can you go to taste and enjoy the artistic endeavors of area chefs with an exquisite array of savory hor d'oeuvres, entrees, and delectable desserts? Or sample some of the finest cheese in the world and award-winning beer and wine, all while enjoying good conversation and the company of friends? And what about the live music, the Silent Auction, and the popular Live Auction? It can all be found from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 5, at the Ludlow Mansion, for the Monroe Arts Center's 2008 A Taste of Spring.
"Arts In Bloom" is the theme for the 2008 Taste of Spring ... and the art and fun definitely will be "in bloom."
A total of nine restaurants are participating this year and they include: Café Claudeen, Fox's Feathercreek Bakery, Gnarly Oak & Yellowstone Golf Course, Hilltop Deli and Coffee Haus, Monroe Country Club, New Glarus Hotel & Chalet Landhaus, Peppercorn Banquets and Catering, Tammy Jo's Place, and Turner Hall Ratskeller. Klondike Cheese, Maple Leaf Cheese & Chocolate Haus, and Roth Kase are providing an assortment of cheeses such as Grand Cru Greyere cheese, and Buttermilk Blue Cheese. Brennan's Country Farm Market and Minhas Craft Brewery are furnishing a variety of beverages.
Representatives from each of the vendors will be present to pass out their specialties, answer questions, and make sure no one leaves hungry. A few of the many entrees this year include Cajun Tortellini, Smoked Salmon Corn Cake with Cusabi, and Chili Blanco. Desserts will include homemade pies, cakes, fudge and cookies.
A varied selection of items for the silent auction will be available to bid on during the course of the evening. Live auction items will include both two and three-dimensional artwork created by some of Wisconsin's most talented artists. Specialty dinner packages also will be put on the live auction block.
