MONROE - The Monroe Arts Center will have open auditions for the MAC Radio Live-2012 Showcase of Talent will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 19 at MAC, 1315 11th St.
For a fourteenth consecutive year, MAC will host the annual event showcase of the talented individuals and groups from the area. Those who always wanted to perform on stage, or those who are already established performers who love to entertain, may audition for the production.
MAC Radio Live will be presented in the same manner as radio shows such as "Prairie Home Companion" and will be broadcast live on Big Radio. The show, hosted by Ron Spielman and directed by Nadine Whiteman, will also include commercial jingles, the return of last year's house band Betty and the Bee Stings directed by Peggy Miller Sheffer, and a live studio audience.
"Every year this event gets better and better, and I'm thrilled to be involved again," Whiteman said. "It's a tremendous opportunity for any talent, as they will be performing for both a live studio and a large radio-listening audience. If chosen, participants will find the performance experience to be as rewarding as it is fun."
Auditions are open to adults, children, and any size group, and those that translate particularly well to a radio audience will be sought. Entertainment in all genres of music, comedy and more will be considered. Performers are required to audition their maximum of 6-minute acts in its entirety. Performance attire, costumes and props are required at auditions.
The MAC Radio Live-2012 Showcase of Talent will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center, 600 26th St. General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students ages 18 and under. The tickets are now available at the MAC box office.
