MAC to co-host arts event

MONROE - For the 24th consecutive year, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, from April 1 through April 29, the Monroe Arts Center will sponsor the Wisconsin Regional Arts Program (WRAP) Competition and Exhibit.

A demonstration/lecture, judging and critique by professional artist, Carolyn Mastroianni, will be the focus of the artist workshop the last day of the exhibit.

This event is co-sponsored by the Monroe Arts Center and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Liberal Studies and the Arts.

Artists are invited to participate in the WRAP competitions and workshops held in various regions of Wisconsin throughout the year.

This competition is open to all area non-professional artists over the age of 18. Work must be original; no molds or patterns from another artist may be used.

Up to two entries per artist are allowed and all media are accepted such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, sculpture, fiber, metal, glass, wood, prints, pastel, digital, etc.

The State Award Winners selected from all 2011 WRAP competitions held throughout the state of Wisconsin will be on display at the University of Wisconsin Madison in September 2011, at which time additional awards and prizes will be given. Entry forms are due at the Monroe Arts Center by 4 p.m., Friday, March 18. Entry forms may be obtained at the Monroe Arts Center or at www.monroeartscenter.com.

Artwork for the exhibit will be accepted only during MAC business hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Friday, March 25 or from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 26.

The entry fee to compete and exhibit artwork, and attend the workshop is $20. For individuals wishing to attend only the workshop on Saturday, April 30, a $5 fee will be charged at the door.
