MONROE - Monroe Arts Center announced the results for the 2017 Wisconsin Regional Arts Program competition recently.

Guest artist and judge Jonathan Wilde chose a total of 14 artists as recipients of state and honorable mention awards. This program is in collaboration with the UW-Madison Division of Continuing Studies, and this is the 30th consecutive year that MAC has hosted this event.

This competition was open to all area non-professional artists. The state award winners selected at the Monroe exhibit, along with all other 2017 WRAP state award winners held throughout Wisconsin, will be on display in September at the Center for Visual Arts in Wausau. Additional awards and prizes will be given at that time.

The state award winners at MAC are Jeanne Ausmus, Mark Brzeszkiewicz, Lynda Caudell and Joan Stackpole of Monroe; Meredith Dragovich and Patrick McGowan of Monticello; and Sharon Stauffer of Mineral Point.

The honorable mention recipients at MAC are Elaine Bethke, Linnea Tabaka and Rich Hager of Monroe; Mary Cuff of Stoughton; and Gerald Podraza of Apple River, Illinois.

Artwork is on display in Monroe Arts Center's Frehner Gallery through June 9. An artist workshop conducted by Wilde is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to noon June 10. The workshop is free for participating WRAP artists. The workshop is open to the public with a $5 fee collected at the door. Advance reservations are not required to attend.
