MONROE - Two of the finalists for Alice in Dairyland will no doubt sound familiar to Green County residents.

Peggy Dierickx, a 2002 graduate of Monticello High School, and Rebecca Paris, Belleville, are two of the six finalists who will compete for the title May 13-15 in Burlington.

Dierickx, De Pere, who was Green County Dairy Princess in 2001, said she is honored to be one of the finalists.

"Coming from an ag background, I feel it's important to promote agriculture," she said.

Her mother, Alice Carroll Dierickx, said the family is proud Peggy is a finalist.

"She's been interested in this for a long, long time," Alice said.

Dierickx grew up on her parents' farm near Monticello. She was a state FFA officer from 2002-03 and the 2004 Wisconsin Holstein Princess.

She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006 with a degree in agriculture journalism. In college she was involved with the Sigma Alpha Sorority, Agriculture Future of America, Badger Dairy Club, National Agri-Marketing Association, and Collegiate FFA.

She is the communications director for the Dairy Business Association. She is a volunteer with the Wisconsin Farm Bureau and Wisconsin FFA Alumni.

Paris was Belleville Dairy Queen and also the Green County Dairy Queen. During the summer she helps promote her parents' co-owned cooperative, Edelweiss Creamery in Monticello.

Paris will graduate from Northern Michigan University in May with a degree in business management. During her time in college she has been active in Phi Sigma Sigma and the Student Leader Fellowship Program.
