Local accountant to retire, sells firm

MONROE - Richard F. Lindemann, a local certified public accountant (CPA) for 33 years, has announced the sale of his accounting firm to Marc Farmer CPA of Marshall, Minn.

Lindemann, who has more than 38 years of experience working in the accounting field, plans to retire in several months once the transition is complete. He will also have a consulting contract with Farmer that will carry on into the future.

Farmer, who grew up working at his father's CPA office before going to college, was employed by the Schwan Food Company prior to purchasing the Monroe accounting firm. He also started and owned a payroll company for five years that he eventually sold to Intuit. His experience also includes working two years for Baker Tilley CPAs at their Minneapolis office and one year at a small South Dakota firm. He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota. In addition, Farmer speaks fluent Spanish.

Lindemann, a 1975 graduate of the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana, opened his downtown office in 1980. Carolyn Bauman, Teri Schaver, Danielle Lindboom and Joann Hawthorn also are employed by the firm.
